Bank House
Bank House, Sharrow Bay’s "jewel in the crown", is situated further along the lake about one mile from the Main House. There are five spacious double bedrooms with en suite bathroom and unbelievable views of lake and fells.
Bank House was built in the 17th century and was originally a farmhouse with attached barn. It was converted into a private house in the 1930s and has been part of Sharrow Bay Hotel since 1975. Decades of care and attention have turned it into the jewel it is today. Bank House is approached by its own sweeping drive and is gloriously situated in an elevated position overlooking Lake Ullswater.
In the Refectory Dining Room there is a striking Portland stone fireplace and over-mantle which came from Warwick Castle. There are also incredible English silk damask curtains, old English furniture and a specially made carpet which is a copy of one in the Royal Opera House.
There are two lounges where soft sofas jostle for space with antiques, freshly cut flowers and numerous lights which make even grey days bright. The superb Refectory Dining Room where breakfast and afternoon tea are served has many breathtaking views.
Guests at Bank House join other Sharrow guests for dinner at the Main House. For those not wishing to drive a courtesy car is available.
