Sharrow Bay sits on the shores of Ullswater in some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Lakes, forests, mountains and fells, as well as ancient monuments, glorious gardens and fascinating stately homes are all within easy reach.
All Flood Affected Bridge and Road Closures have now been re-opened as of March 23rd.
Sharrow bay is easily accessible from the M6 jct 40, A66 and A6.
From M6 jct 40 take the A66 West exit towards Keswick, at the next roundabout, (Rheged), take the second exit, the A592 to Ullswater until you reach the lake itself at the junction of the B5320, turn left towards Pooley Bridge. At the roundabout in Pooley Bridge turn right, at the next junction turn right again signposted for Howtown, and follow this road past Park Foot campsite and the Yacht Club to Sharrow Bay, (about 5 minutes). This can be single track in places but there are plenty of passing spaces.
From the A66 if you are coming from the West turn right at the Rheged Roundabout, third exit on to the A592 and follow the instructions as above.
From the A66 from the East, exit at the Kemplay Roundabout on the A6 South for Eamont Bridge and Shap; turn right at the first roundabout in Eamont Bridge and take the B5320 to Pooley Bridge.At Pooley Bridge turn left at the roundabout, and then right at the crossroads – you will join the road to Howtown. Follow this past Park Foot campsite and the Yacht Club. This can at times be a single track road, but there are plenty of passing spaces. Sharrow Bay is just past the yacht club. About 5 minutes out of Pooley Bridge.
From the A6 from the south, turn left at the Eamont Bridge roundabout and follow the instructions as above.
