A local start for Sharrow Bay hotels 60th year
Posted on 09/01/2008

A local start for Sharrow Bay hotels 60th yearSharrow Bay hotel is celebrating it’s 60th anniversary this year by re-launching its hugely popular local lunches but this time with a twist.

The Michelin starred hotel will once again use the finest local ingredients to serve up the very best of Cumbria but this time the hotel will generously donate £1 from each lunch to the locally based ‘Help a CFM Child’ charity. For the last 15 years the charity has supported local underprivileged children by donating money raised to projects, groups and individuals. Just some of the projects to benefit include a sensory room and music therapy at the Cumberland Infirmary, funding for Bright Sparks, a specialist group aimed at adolescents whose parents have or have had a problem with substance abuse and specialist equipment for children which is also supported by Cumbria Cerebral Palsy.

Sharrow Bay General Manager Andrew King commented 'To do something that supports a local community that has been so supportive of Sharrow Bay since we began is the perfect way to start our 60th anniversary celebrations.’

Sharrow Bay announced their new lunch on the day that they gave a cheque for £14,000 to their 2007 local charity of the year. After raising the money for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, Annie Binny, Deputy Chairman of the volunteer fundraising committee, commented 'We are very grateful to Sharrow Bay for their continual support and for the incredible amount of money raised during this year. The hotel has supported us over the years and importantly Sharrow Bay is again supporting a local charity.’

Priced at just £25 the three course, midweek local lunch takes on a seasonal focus and includes dishes such as ‘Noisette of local Venison with Red Cabbage, Raisins & Apple, Potato & Parsnip Dauphinoise and Juniper Berry & Rosemary Sauce’ and of course Sharrow Bay’s world famous Sticky Toffee Pudding.
